A significant gold discovery in WA’s rich Murchison gold fields continues to grow apace with Meeka Metals announcing the discovery of a second high grade gold lode at its St Anne’s prospect.

St Anne’s has returned a bevy of stellar gold hits since the discovery of the Driver lode in July this year.

If you can’t recall, that included some outrageous numbers like 32m at 16.07g/t from 48m and 20m at 20.74g/t from 48m in separate holes.

Meeka’s (ASX:MEK) continued focus on St Anne’s has delivered the goods again, with a new find called the Wood lode some 100m east of Driver.

It includes strong oxide mineralisation on a previously untested contact with some impressive results which remain open to the north, south and at depth.

Assays include:

  • 16m at 3.48g/t Au from 48m including 8m at 6.17g/t Au (22SAAC165)
  • 12m at 2.48g/t Au from 76m including 8m at 3.55g/t Au (22SAAC164)
  • 12m at 1.38g/t Au from 88m including 4m at 2.27g/t Au (22SAAC128)
  • 8m at 1.38g/t Au from 36m (22SAAC166)
  • 12m at 1.13g/t Au from 80m (22SAAC131); and,
  • 20m at 0.57g/t Au from 24m (22SAAC162).

Assays for 25 shallow strike extension holes to the north and south remain pending, with drilling still ongoing at Wood, and another 43 holes still to be returned from Driver.

First of a number

The Murchison Gold Project is endowed with over 1Moz of gold, having previously been mined by Doray Minerals at its legendary high grade Andy Well discovery.

But Meeka continues to show there was plenty left in the ground its old owners never uncovered.

The Wood find is the first of a number of targets tested outside of the Driver and Iron lodes at St Anne’s, Meeka MD Tim Davidson said.

Diamond drilling is also on the way with six holes completed, intersecting a target shear zone. First assays are expected late next month.

“The ongoing shallow drilling at St Anne’s continues to expand the footprint of high-grade oxide mineralisation within this large gold system,” Davidson said.

“The Wood lode is the first of a number of targets to be tested outside of the Driver and Iron lodes, which sit on the western mafic contact at St Anne’s and where we have been drilling since June 2022.

“This positive early result from the first target in our broader, but disciplined, target testing program highlights the growth opportunity available at our Murchison Gold Project.

“Reinforcing this is the success the team are having with deeper RC drilling at St Anne’s, which intersected high-grade and visible gold in fresh rock below the oxide horizon, and diamond drilling, which has intersected the shear zone with intervals of sulphides and quartz marking the lode position.

“Core processing is underway with first assay results from the diamond holes expected in December 2022.”

A maiden mineral resource is due at St Anne’s alongside met test work in December, at the same time as a mineral resource update for the Turnberry deposit.

A PFS is due in June next year, with work also continuing on gold and rare earths discoveries at the Circle Valley project in WA’s south.
