• New gold, copper and nickel anomalies have been identified in a recently completed soil sampling program at Lady Grey project in WA
  • A >2km long gold anomaly has been uncovered with a peak result of 256ppb gold
  • Work programs and approvals are being fast tracked ahead of drilling

Special report: A recent tenement-wide soil sampling program has turned up multiple gold, copper and nickel anomalies at Lady Grey, paving the way for diversification and untapped multi-metal discoveries.

Lanthanein Resources’ (ASX:LNR) Lady Grey project near Southern Cross in WA’s Forrestania greenstone belt is immediately adjacent to Covalent Lithium’s 189Mt at 1.53% Li2O Earl Grey deposit, one of the largest operating lithium mines in WA.

Recent exploration across the 77km2 of prospective tenure, which hosts a mapped continuation of the Early Grey pegmatite, has resulted in the identification of a large lithium caesium anomaly smack bang in the middle of Lady Grey.

An anomaly like this – when the concentration of a mineral is higher than background levels – could indicate the presence of a deposit.

With a strike length of +4km and assays peaking at 454ppm Li2O, LNR believes it could be in the early stages of a large lithium discovery.

But wait … there’s more

The same exploration program has now uncovered multiple gold, copper and nickel soil anomalies.

LNR says the largest gold anomaly extends over 2km of strike in a highly favourable geological setting with peak gold, copper and nickel results returning 256ppb, 170ppm, and 263ppm respectively.

“The copper and nickel anomalies are spatially adjacent to each other along with the high sulphur with a peak value of 5.33% and 50 samples >0.05% which would indicate the presence of weathered sulphides,” the company says.

WA’s Forrestania region is known historically for its significant gold production with the Bounty Gold Mine – also on Covalent Lithium’s tenure, adjacent to Lady Grey – producing ~1.3Moz gold before the mine was closed in 2002.

The region also has proven nickel endowment with IGO’s Forrestania Operations, 30km to the south.

Out with drill bit by mid-year

“We are greatly encouraged by the identification of multiple new gold, copper and nickel anomalies picked up by the recent tenement wide soil sampling,” LNR technical director Brian Thomas says.

“This adds another dimension to the project wide prospectivity following the recent discovery of two large Lithium anomalies, Godzilla and Avenger.

“We will now accelerate our work programs and approvals processes to be drilling these targets by mid-year.”

Pipeline of compelling targets

These new soil anomalies represent compelling targets for drilling potential new discoveries.

Extensions and in-filling to the current soil surveys are already planned to further delineate and add to the company’s current lithium targeting, in conjunction with heritage surveys and drilling.

Both the anomalies, Godzilla and Avenger, stand out as a key priority for follow up and further evaluation.
