Greentech Metals has had a confidence boost at its Whundo Copper project in WA, After follow up drilling at the large Austin geophysical target and the historic Shelby prospect highlighted the potential for resource growth.

An ~850m RC drilling program has confirmed that both targets have associated copper mineralisation.

Greentech Metals (ASX:GRE) says at Shelby combined intercepts of 13m of copper sulphide bearing mineralisation within a 15m zone from 417m in 22GTRC034 (assay results pending) compare favourably with 11.25m at 1.6% Cu from 391.25m in nearby historic hole SHDD016.

And at Austin, a 5m intersection of copper sulphide mineralisation from 217m was flagged.

Assay results are pending, along with the results from Downhole EM (DHEM) surveys completed on both holes.

Growing the Whundo resources

The company interprets drill hole 22GTRC034 to have intersected the same mineralised horizon as the historic hole based on both the visual observation of chalcopyrite in the drill chips and confirmation of copper mineralisation using a handheld pXRF analyser.

It’s also anticipated that the DHEM survey will “illuminate the mineralised conductor and potentially provide a vector to additional areas of massive sulphide mineralisation.”

“This has been an important follow-up drill program for the company which represents the first steps in investigating the large conductive anomalies that define the Whundo project, in particular our high priority Shelby and Austin targets, both of which have the potential to significantly grow the Whundo project resources,” GRE executive director Thomas Reddicliffe said.

“Shelby is a very exciting target as we have a large underexplored conductive anomaly which is now confirmed to be host to a persistent and prospective mineralised zone.”

GRE says the broad areal extent of these conductive anomalies in conjunction with the demonstrated spatial association of copper mineralisation make Shelby and Austin priority exploration targets with the potential to significantly increase the Whundo resources.
