Gold Digger: Investors are stashing silvers bars, coins in record numbers

Russia is the equal 5th largest silver producer in the world — alongside Australia and Poland — producing 1,300t of the precious and industrial metal in 2021.
Metals Focus now says Russian production will remain flat in 2022 – a downward revision from initial forecasts – after the suspension of Toronto-based Kinross Gold’s Russian operations.
This mainly concerns their ‘Kupol’ mine, which produced 3.3Moz (~100t) silver in 2021.
While Russian mining operations have been increasingly well funded from within the country after sanctions were first imposed in 2014, these fresh sanctions will cut-off access to foreign-sourced financing.
This will make funding project development increasingly difficult, Metals Focus says.
Punters are stashing silvers bars under the bed
A world full of danger and unpredictability has seen investors flock to safe havens, like gold and silver bars and coins.
Metals Focus says western silver demand is already close to its record highs, with many coin and bar fabricators near full capacity.
Demand from major buyer India has jumped sharply, but still well below record highs.
“This year, we expect global physical investment to hold close to 2021’s elevated total,” Metals Focus says.
“Even so, it will still be well below 2015’s record high (in our series). This suggests scope to see higher bar and coin sales this year.”

Weekly Small Cap Standouts
The gold-lithium stock has partially bounced back after a late Feb gold project scoping study was punished by investors.
The bulk tonnage 200,000ozpa open pit operation at the low grade 9.6Moz ‘Estelle’ project in Alaska would have average all in sustaining costs of $US1,120/oz ($1,518/oz Aussie) and eyewatering start-up costs of $US424m ($575m Aussie).
NVA is currently planning a drilling program at the higher grade ’RPM’ target “to deliver a higher average mill feed grade and substantially increase and improve the gold production profile over the life of the project”.
Its majority owned company (~57%) Snow Lake Lithium (Nasdaq:LITM) seems to be doing better.
Drilling is now underway to expand the existing defined resource at Snow lake and identify additional outside targets for further development.
“Initial indications suggest that these goals have been achieved and improved upon,” NVA said March 10.
E2 METALS (ASX:E2M)
Billionaire investor Eric Sprott will emerge as a major shareholder in the hard-drilling gold-silver explorer after he cornerstoned an $8.5m placement.
E2M’s main game is the ‘Conserrat’ gold-silver project in Argentina, where it is hunting giant deposits like AngloGold Ashanti’s nearby 8.9Moz gold, 137Moz silver ‘Cerro Vanguardia’ mine.
Prior to E2 beginning work in August 2019, Conserrat had never been drilled or subject to systematic modern exploration.
Subsequent exploration by E2 has returned several ‘blind’ discoveries, most notably Malvina, where hits include 14m at 8.7gpt gold, 2541gpt silver; Mia (18m at 49gpt gold, 207gpt silver), and ‘Andrea Sur’ (16m at 15gpt gold, 22gpt silver).
“We are excited to welcome Eric Sprott as a major shareholder of E2,” MD Todd Williams says.
“These funds will be used for drilling at Conserrat to further unlock this new and emerging gold and silver district, as well as an inaugural drill program at the exciting El Rosillo gold project where surface work has uncovered high-grade surface mineralisation.
“The placement strengthens the register and introduces a number of high-quality mining specialist institutional investors, validating the value inherent in the company’s projects and investment proposition of E2.”
