• TMB has completed RC drilling in the historic Tambourah goldfield
  • The program was focused on the World Fairs prospect, which has not been drilled since it was previously mined from 1898
  • Testing for lithium potential also took place at the nearby Tambourah Nth project
  • Tambourah Nth is one of six projects the company picked up from Minrex earlier in July

Tambourah Metals has wrapped up RC drilling at its Tambourah gold project in the Pilbara of WA to mark the first program at the World Fairs prospect since the 1900s.

Review of old historic data by Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) generated several targets at its namesake project, a significant land holding which has over 30 historical gold workings.

A promising drill campaign in 2022 at five of these prospects – Tambourah King, Western Chief, Western Chief south, Federal and Kushmattite – returned several promising hits.

Highlights included two high-grade chunks, 3m @7.78g/t and 2m @6.57g/t, within a thick 22m intercept @ 1.38g/t.

A follow up program of 17 RC holes for ~2,684m has now been drilled to confirm extensions of the high-grade gold mineralisation at several prospects.

One of these is Worlds Fair, where there is no record of drilling being conducted since it was mined in 1898. Assays from Worlds Fair are due in 4-6 weeks.

Lithium potential at Tambourah Nth

In addition to the gold drilling, Tambourah put three holes into the ground to test for lithium potential at the northern portion of Tambourah Nth – 7km north of the company’s namesake project.

The landholding is one of six new projects in the Pilbara the company picked up from Minrex Resources (ASX:MRR) back in July. It is also roughly 200m from Infinity Mining’s (ASX:INF) lithium prospect.

The drilling tested lithium potential from surface and samples have been sent to Perth for analysis with expected results in six weeks from the time of publishing.

The 3rd drill hole intersected sulphides throughout the 120m hole, and Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) also intends to conduct gold analysis within this particular drill hole.

Gold and lithium exploration ongoing

The mining license applications are progressing at the Tambourah goldfield, and an ongoing heritage survey will pave the way for further work loaded in the chamber and ready to go.

Tambourah also intends to incorporate 3D modelling of the recent drilling at the project into the existing drill data.

In the meantime, Tambourah has several of its new lithium projects in the Pilbara with sampling and mapping of several locations at Tambourah Nth and Shaw River currently under way.

Plus, results of helicopter reconnaissance and the subsequent target areas selected by CSIRO have been identified on the ground and this will form the basis of selecting areas for the heritage survey at Russian Jack.
