Galan’s exploration of the Santa Barbara tenement is off to a great start with the first diamond drillhole intersecting lithium brines while a new survey highlighted brine continuity over the entire area.

Hole SB-01-23 was drilled to a depth of 455m with 72-hour airlift testing extracting brines with an average lithium grade of 829mg/l.

Additionally, the gravel and fractured breccia that were encountered during drilling indicates strong potential for high porosity and permeability, which could deliver significant brine flows.

Galan Lithium (ASX:GLN) noted that new geophysical studies have also confirmed the presence of conductive units, brine continuity and upside resource potential at the Santa Barbara tenement within the Hombre Muerto West project in Argentina.

“Drilling and geophysical results from Santa Barbara have exceeded expectations in terms of brine chemistry, sedimentary thickness, and permeable lithologies,” exploration manager Álvaro Henriquez said.

“Brine continuity has also been readily demonstrated through the additional geophysical campaign conducted across those tenements.

“These overall Santa Barbara results deliver further strong growth potential in previously unexplored areas of our Hombre Muerto West brine deposit.”

New drilling

Galan has started to drill three new production wells in the current HMW resource area.

The first well – No 4 (PBRS-03-23) at Rana de Sal I – will be drilled to an expected depth of about 380m proximate to a previously explored location.

All three production new wells are set to complement existing wells to ensure full brine flexibility for the extended pilot plant activities and will also be part of the long-term HMW project infrastructure.

Exploration at HMW is also progressing well with several new diamond infill holes planned for the next quarter.

Galan adds that SRK Australia is on track to complete the HMW project reserve model and updated resource estimate during the current quarter.

Work on the Definitive Feasibility Study is also continuing with completion expected within a similar timeframe.
