The St Anne’s prospect at Latitude Consolidated’s Murchison Gold Project is emerging as a key drill target after high grade results highlighted the potential for serious gold mineralisation at the target.

Located on the Fairway trend to the south of the 1.1Moz Turnberry deposit, RC drilling by Latitude Consolidated (ASX:LCD) at St Anne’s returned a top result of 5.0m at 6.77g/t Au from 103m.

While the grade itself is enough to turn heads, the fact it bears geological similarities to Turnberry and is interpreted to strike a further 800m to the north warrants close attention.

Turnberry’s host rock dolerite was intersected in the fresh rock below the known St Anne’s mineralisation, offering a walk-up target for the next stage of Latitude’s Murchison drilling campaign in the second half of 2021.

“This is the first drill program completed by the company at the highly prospective Fairway trend and we are very pleased with the results it has delivered,” Latitude boss Tim Davidson said.

“We have intersected high-grade mineralisation at St Anne’s in a geological setting that is known to host a significant gold endowment at Turnberry, only 3km to the north.

“We believe St Anne’s displays many similarities to Turnberry and we intend to do further work there during our Phase 2 drilling program later this year.”

Bunarra and Far East also showing promise

“Results received from Bunarra and Far East are also pleasing given both are early stage exploration prospects which have had limited work completed to date and have strong potential for further mineralisation to be identified,” Davidson said.

“These results continue to build the company’s confidence in the exploration prospectivity of the Murchison Gold Project and I look forward to providing further updates over the coming weeks as we receive the final assays from our Phase 1 drilling program.”

A wide zone of quartz-tourmaline-arsenopyrite and pyrite mineralisation was intersected within a shear zone at the Bunarra Prospect, with best results of:

  • 18m at 1.15g/t Au from 235m including 2m at 5.41g/t Au in 21BNRC0010, and;
  • 6m at 1.32g/t Au from 20m including 1m at 4.87g/t Au in 21BNRC0009.

At Far East, mineralised intercepts were found in mafic volcanic and granite with galena rocks, striking 4m at 2.66g/t Au from 51m, including 1.0m at 9.01g/t Au in 21CWRC0001, and 2m at 2.39g/t Au from 58m, including 1m at 4.51g/t Au in 21CWRC0004.
