Down, down, lithium prices are down… analysts know this, anyone who can read charts and stats knows this, we know this and producers, explorers and battery makers and EV makers definitely know this.

The latter two are not exactly unhappy about it right now, though, judging by BloombergNEF’s annual lithium-ion battery price survey and analysis. EV car makers are no doubt digging the current lower costs for their side of production.

 

 

This Li bear market is a brutal one, though, and there’s a pretty damn big set of woods to negotiate yet. But if you want some positivity and realistic long-term hopium, head over to one of our other battery metals columns, such as High Voltage, the latest of which references some highly encouraging analysis and outlooks from a prominent global investment advisor with a zoomed-out lens.

And it includes positive eyes on the Aussie lithium sector, especially in light of frothy mergers and acquisition plays to snap up WA’s bountiful resources.

What’s surging right now in ASX lithium land?

(Circa 3pm-ish on a Thursday afternoon…)

 

Charged up 🚀

White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN) +18% 

This junior explorer has joined the froth circling in and around the fast-emerging Lake Johnston lithium hotspot over in WA.

It has news over the past 24 hours or so regarding its 100% owned Lake Johnston South lithium project. And that news essentially confirms high prospectivity for spodumene-bearing pegmatites for the site.

It’s a licence area of +1,870square km2, west of Norseman in Western Australia, with licences covering a large portion of the Lake Johnston greenstone belt in the new shallow high-grade lithium province.

Notably, the project is adjacent to TG Metals (ASX:TG6) ‘ recent eye-popping spodumene discoveries, and is approximately 20km from the Charger Metals (ASX:CHR) and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) exploration joint venture project.

 

 

Evergreen Lithium (ASX:EG1) +15% 

Meanwhile, NT lithium explorer Evergreen has news from its Bynoe project.

Its first batch of assays from Phase 3 geochemical soil sampling at the site has identified new ‘large and significant’ lithium anomalism.

Also making news today

Battery Age Minerals (ASX:BM8) Phase 2 drilling at the Falcon Lake lithium project in Ontario has returned multiple spodumene-bearing pegmatite intersections at the Falcon East Extension.

Mt Malcolm Mines (ASX:M2M) is building its large lithium footprint at the Lake Johnston preojct in WA, by acquiring a 75km2 exploration licence.

Brazil-focused Latin Resources (ASX:LRS) has a resource upgrade in the works for its Salinas lithium project following the receipt of more high-grade assays, including up to 2.03% Li2O at the Colina deposit.
