On Tuesday the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, Honda, revealed its plans to introduce ten or more electric motorcycle models by 2025 in a bid to reach carbon neutrality for all motorcycle products by 2040.

The company said it aims to increase annual sales of electric models to 1 million units within the next five years and 3.5 million units (equivalent to 15% of total unit sales) as of 2030.

To accommodate the wide range of customer needs and usage environments unique to motorcycles, Honda said it would continue to reduce CO2 emissions from ICE models, while also developing models compatible with carbon neutral fuels such as gasoline-ethanol blends.

“To be more specific, in addition to Brazil where flex-fuel (E100) motorcycle models are already available, we plan to introduce flex-fuel models in India, as well, one of the major motorcycle markets,” Honda said.

“The plan is to first introduce flex-fuel (E20) models beginning in 2023, and flex-fuel (E100) models in 2025.”

Who’s got news out?

MORELLA MINING (ASX:1MC)

Airborne geophysics have taken off across Morella’s Pilbara projects, covering several tenements included in the Morella-Sayona (ASX:SYA) earn-in agreement.

Of particular focus will be the Tabba Tabba East (E45/4703) tenement, around 25 kilometres north of Pilgangoora which is one of the largest hard rock lithium deposits in the world.

To date the tenement has been relatively under-explored and may host lithium-bearing pegmatite intrusions.

Morella has identified several target areas at Tabba Tabba East that warrant more detailed field-based exploration activities.

Immediate efforts will focus on airborne geophysical survey, reconnaissance mapping and sampling at areas identified in preparation for a more systematic grid soil sampling and geological mapping program.

ANSON RESOURCES (ASX:ASN)

Anson has wrapped up resource drilling at the Cane Creek 32-1 well at its Paradox lithium project with initial assays outlining potential resource expansion.

The initial assays of 108 parts per million (ppm) lithium from the 29.6m thick Clastic Zone 43 is 40% higher than the average grade of the lithium brines in Clastic Zones 17, 19, 29 and 33 which were included in the recently upgraded JORC resource.

And if this wasn’t enough to put a smile on faces, exploration drilling has confirmed the additional Clastic Zones — which are much thicker than previously sampled zones — also contain a supersaturated brine.

Assays are pending from the remaining Clastic Zones and Mississippian units, which have the potential to deliver a large increase in a further planned resource upgrade.

The data and samples collected from these horizons will provide additional geological information on the brine horizons in the project area which can be sampled in future exploration programs.

POWER MINERALS (ASX:PNN)

Power Minerals has raised $5.5m in a placement to sophisticated, professional and institutional investors putting work programs at the Salta Lithium Project in Argentina’s northwest on the fast-track.

Funds raised will be used to carry out resource definition drilling at Salta this month before moving on to Incahuasi Salar – where diamond drill holes for 1,00m are planned, and then finishing up at the Pocitos and Rincon Salares.

“These funds will also allow us to pursue a potential second drill rig to operate concurrently and fast-track the expansion of the project’s existing mineral resource, which is a core focus for the company,” executive director Mena Habib says.

LAKE RESOURCES (ASX:LKE)

Processing plant technology partner Lilac Solutions can earn up to a 25% stake in the Kachi Project, based on the achievement of certain milestones.

But something is going on, because disputes have arisen between Lake and Lilac as to the date by which these milestones need to be achieved, with Lake considering the milestones must be achieved by September 30, 2022 and Lilac considering it has until November 30, 2022 to do so.

These milestones include Lilac completing at least 1,000 hours of operations (including uptime, maintenance, monitoring, and other work that constitutes operations as determined by Lilac in its reasonable discretion) of the Lilac Pilot Unit onsite at Kachi.

It also sees Lilac producing a lithium carbonate feed totalling at least 2,500 kg of lithium carbonate equivalents from onsite operations.

To resolve the dispute, Lake has exercised its rights to have the dispute resolved either by agreement of both Lake and Lilac or by arbitration. If not deal is reached Lake says it “has certain buy back rights under the Agreement which it may exercise at its option”.
