Ferrari plans to release its first fully electric sportscar by 2025.
The Purosangue model will be unveiled in September 2022 and the company expects the yearly average contribution to shipments for the ‘exclusive’ model to remain below 20% over its lifecycle.
“It’s unique features, leveraging the racing know-how, will make it a true Ferrari, ensuring it stands out across all dimensions: engine power density, weight, sound and driving emotions,” the company says.
“Another key differentiating element for Ferrari electric cars will be the way the battery cells – which will be purchased to ensure the highest quality and latest technology – will be assembled in Maranello.
“The handcrafted battery modules will be integrated into the chassis of cars in a process focused on reducing the weight of the vehicle, increasing the performance and creating the unique driving experience, as only a Ferrari can deliver.”
By 2026, Ferrari says its product offering will be 40% Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), 60% hybrid and full electric, and by 2030 it’s targeting an offering composed of 20% ICE, 40% hybrid and 40% full electric.
However, Ferrari says the evolution of ICE, an essential part of its heritage, will continue.

Who’s got news out today?
AZL has signed a 5-year lease to establish a Lithium Research Centre on a 9,700m2 property in Tempe, Arizona.
The facility includes a 1,900m2 building for R&D and a 3,000m2 secure lot for the fabrication of prototype processing equipment.
The company says the centre will function as a “technology incubator” focused on the extraction of lithium from a variety of ores and brines, as well as the production of battery- grade lithium chemicals for current and future battery technologies.
Construction is expected to be completed in the next four months and key processing steps operational by Q4 2022.
“We look forward to working with ore from the Big Sandy resource, and I am confident that the AZL Research Centre will act as a hub for technological advancement in the lithium industry and strategic collaborations,” chief technical officer Brett Rabe says.
The company is set to kick off soil sampling at its Scotty project in Nevada in the coming days.
Less than 3% of the project has been covered previously with soil sampling – yet extremely strong and coherent anomalism >250ppm Li was delineated over that entire area.
“The anomalism is higher tenor and more coherent than that evident over the immediately adjacent Bonnie Claire Lithium Deposit – one of the largest lithium resources in the USA, that comprises 18.3 Mt of Li2CO3 equivalent,” the company says.
The soil sampling will assist in defining targets to test in the maiden drilling program scheduled for H2 2022.
BOA has confirmed three large scale lithium anomalies at its Bald Hill East project in WA.
Auger sampling in March returned peak assays of 58.6ppm lithium, 18.0ppm caesium, 102.2ppm rubidium.
Preparation for drill testing of the targets is in progress with regulatory permits and heritage survey clearances underway.
