Assays have confirmed the presence of copper and deep disseminated sulphide mineralisation within Critical’s seventh diamond hole at the Gibsons prospect.

Step-out hole 11A returned a tasty 7.63m intercept grading 1.15% copper, 0.23% zinc, 73.15 grams per tonne (g/t) silver and small amounts of lead and gold from a depth of 42.04m that could represent a new style of mineralisation in a previously-undrilled area.

Meanwhile, the presence of deep sulphides to a depth of 360m has highlighted the potential for the discovery of further massive sulphide lodes both laterally and at depth.

Critical Resources (ASX:CRR) has now received approvals from the Resources Regulator in New South Wales for an additional three holes totalling 1,200m at Gibsons.

These holes will test the extent of copper mineralisation in Hole 11A and depth and extent of geophysical anomalies.

Assays are currently pending from completed Holes 02, 02A, 04, 07A.

“Extension of the drilling campaign at Gibsons is confirmation that we see huge potential in the Halls Peak project as a whole,” managing director Alex Biggs said.

“These additional holes will allow us to further delineate the chalcopyrite mineralisation we intersected in Hole 11A and test geophysical anomalies at depth.

“We are excited to test the potential of the Gibsons prospect further and look forward to adding to the already impressive results we have seen so far”.

New copper find

The company noted that Hole 11A intersected intervals of sheeted veins and stockwork mineralisation containing chalcopyrite and pyrite downhole from 42m to 50.72m.

Petrographic and geochemical studies are being undertaken to identify the causative mineral system of this potentially new style of mineralisation while post-drilling geophysical interpretation indicates that it passed close to a geophysical anomaly that will be test by upcoming holes.

The results from the hole are promising in light of other successful drilling that includes intersecting 6.6m of visible massive and semi-massive sulphide mineralisation in Hole 07A and disseminated sulphides in Hole 09.
