When it comes to mineral exploration and development, the quality of the team means almost everything.

WA nickel explorer Legend Mining (ASX:LEG) has tapped highly experienced, ex-Creasy Group geologist and Albany-Fraser Orogen expert Oliver Kiddie as executive director, effective from August.

In December, Legend went on a big run after making a ‘Nova like’ nickel-copper discovery called Mawson in the Fraser Range of WA.

Nova was the famous discovery that rocketed explorer Sirius Resources from penny stock to $1.8bn takeover target in just three years.

Legend’s early stage discovery has already sparked a 235 per cent increase in its share price over the past seven months. The company — which has an impressive $28m in the bank for exploration — is now worth a cool ~$350m.

Oliver Kiddie is the real deal, a geologist with over 18 years’ experience across exploration, resource definition, project development, and production.

He led the Creasy Group’s exploration team at the Fraser Range project, which included the discovery, resource definition, and mining lease application for the Silver Knight nickel-copper-cobalt deposit.

Creasy Group — helmed by famous prospector Mark Creasy — also has a 26.7 per cent shareholding in Legend.

“I am excited to be joining Legend Mining at this stage in its Rockford project’s exploration and evaluation strategy,” Kiddie says.

“The recent Mawson discovery on the company’s tenure in the Rockford project has highlighted the potential for multiple Tier 1 discoveries on the Rockford project.”
