Belararox has taken another step towards exploring for porphyry copper-gold its recently acquired TMT in Argentina’s San Juan Province.

The company has submitted nine Environmental Impact Assessment (EIAs) Applications covering the entire project to the San Juan Mines Department, which when approved will permit a range of activities including initial exploration, track building and drilling.

Approvals for the EIAs, which were completed by a consultant based in San Juan province in line with the company’s commitment to developing the project with the help of local groups and the support of local suppliers, are expected in time for the upcoming 2023-2024 field season commencing in September/October.

Belararox (ASX:BRX) notes that track building, construction of additional access roads and reinstating a historical exploration camp will be the first activities to commence once the EIAs are approved.

“With the acquisition of TMT signed, sealed and delivered, we are now busy ticking off the boxes required before exploration-related activities can get fully underway at this highly prospective asset,” managing director Arvind Misra said.

Planned exploration work includes geophysical surveys, detailed geological mapping and sampling across the entire project.

This will lead in turn to up to 10,000m of diamond core drilling at the advanced Toro target and a further 2,000m of diamond drilling at the adjacent Malambo target.

An underexplored region

The Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) project is located in an area where exploration activities have been closing the underexplored gap between the El Indo Metallogenic Belt, which contains the Veladero and Pascua Lima deposits, and the Maricunga Metallogenic Belt, home to the Filo del Sol and Josemaria deposits.

Belararox has already identified 11 prospective copper-gold porphyry targets at the project from satellite spectral imagery processed by Fathom Geophysics and interpreted by independent hydrothermal systems specialist, Dr Steve Garwin.
