Belararox “on the right track” for copper-gold porphyry discovery in Argentina

  • Phase 1 drilling wraps up at TMT testing the first two high-priority targets across a large, underexplored area
  • Results represent strong validation of Belararox’s geological model
  • A magnetotellurics geophysical survey is planned at Toro South and Tambo to characterise the most prospective zones for drilling

Special Report: Phase 1 drilling at the Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) project in Argentina has tested the first two of several high priority target areas, strongly supporting Belararox’s geological targeting model.

Of the highest-ranking targets only Tambo South and Malambo have been drill-tested by Belararox to date, with other highly prospective targets, such as Toro South, yet to be adequately tested.

Belararox (ASX:BRX) intersected wide and continuous anomalous copper zones at Tambo South, with geological interpretation indicating multiple intrusions with varying extents of copper mineralisation.

The 3D geochemical models have been updated with drill hole information, suggesting that the upper parts of the copper porphyry target have been tested successfully.

A magnetotellurics (MT) geophysical survey is planned to further delineate the most prospective zones for potential follow-up drill targeting.

Toro South prospect

The Toro South target sits 20km southeast of ATEX Resources’ Valeriano project, which holds a resource of 1.41bt at 0.67% copper equivalent.

Surface sampling previously returned assays up to 1.41% copper, 1.28ppm gold, 421ppm silver, 8.13% zinc and >20.0% lead, along with pathfinder elements including thalium, lithium, arsenic, antimony and bismuth.

BRX believes the geochemical zoning at Toro South exhibits characteristics of a copper-gold-silver epithermal-type mineralisation, with potential for underlying copper-gold porphyry-style mineralisation.

Pushing ahead on porphyry potential

BRX exploration manager Chris Blaser said the company’s exploration efforts leading up to the maiden phase 1 drilling and  positive results showed that Belararox is on the right track for further success.

“We are planning a magnetotellurics (MT) geophysical survey for Toro South and Tambo South to further delineate the most prospective zones for follow-up drill targeting,” he said.

BRX managing director Arvind Misra said he is highly encouraged by the wide and anomalous copper zones intersected at Tambo South.

“These results represent a clear technical success and provide strong validation for our geological targeting model,” he said.

“While Tambo South is emerging as a compelling prospect that requires further testing, other high-priority targets, such as Toro South, also warrant follow-up exploration based on their geophysical and geochemical signatures.

“Altogether, the initial results give us a robust foundation, and we’re excited to advance our understanding of the broader copper-gold porphyry potential in the next field campaign.”
