Battery Age has started summer fieldwork to identify and prioritise targets for drilling at its Falcon Lake lithium project in Ontario, Canada, with mechanical stripping now underway.

Early stripping activities on areas identified as having high exploration potential have already uncovered multiple prospective new drill targets at the project while a short field mapping program had already mapped out 12 additional spodumene-bearing pegmatites on the western half of the property.

Along with other work such as prospecting and geochemical sampling, LIDAR and ortho imagery, and the completion of ground magnetic surveying, the fieldwork will generate additional targets for drilling and to rank them in order of priority for future works.

Battery Age Minerals (ASX:BM8) adds that it plans to fully explore Falcon Lake this summer and will focus heavily on the 2.5km eastern half of the property that has not been explored in any way despite having significant exploration potential.

“This is a great start to our summer fieldwork campaign,” chief executive officer Gerard O’Donovan noted.

“To uncover additional pegmatites at the first of our stripping targets gives us great confidence in the prospectivity of Falcon Lake.

“We look forward to deploying more targeted techniques to identify and prioritise additional targets so that we can continue drilling and unlocking the value of this asset.”

Maiden drilling at the project has already validated the company’s belief in the project’s prospectivity, returning assays such as 27.6m grading 1.37% Li2O from a down-hole depth of 16.65m including 15m at 1.65% Li2O in hole 23FL-001.

Early finds

Early stripping has achieved success with a previously unmapped pegmatite being stripped back from under cover at the first target.

This pegmatite will be further stripped to define scale and structural orientations, so that it can be drilled as part of the ongoing maiden drilling program.

Mechanised stripping is continuing across several other high-priority targets such as the historically mapped s Falcon Discovery and Falcon East mineralised occurrences that have been identified for investigation by the company’s exploration team.

These will also be prepped for drilling in the coming weeks along with other areas in the western half of the property which show significant exploration potential.
