Aurora prospect shines bright for Golden Mile in Arizona

Special Report: Golden Mile has sampled a promising new gold prospect called Aurora at the Pearl copper project in Arizona, with samples from quartz veins going up to 10.8g/t.
A Golden Mile Resources (ASX:G88) reconnaissance mapping and rock chip program spotted up the prospect 800m east of mine workings at its high-profile Odyssey prospect, appearing to be situated along a similar fault zone.
A half dozen first samples of brecciated, shear hosted ferruginous quartz veins all returned highly anomalous assays, including results of 10.8g/t and 8.94g/t gold alongside silver up to 33.9 g/t.
It’s the third high quality prospect identified by G88’s rock kickers at the exciting project in the Grand Canyon state.
More sampling over the Ford prospect also yielded 7 new rock chip samples with assays of 0.67g/t Au, 5.66g/t Ag, 4.47% Cu, 4.38% Pb, and 2.52% Zn which the company described as exceptional.
Golden Mile managing director Damon Dormer said the discovery of Aurora underscores the project’s potential and the company was confident more sampling would yield more prospects.
“Our priority remains at the Odyssey and Ford prospects with preparation for the commencement of the maiden drill program,” Dormer said.
“All permits have been submitted, and we are now waiting for the permit approval to allow us to commence the program at Odyssey and Ford prospects with drilling resources readily available.
“Aurora is a great third prospect within the Pearl project area and further field work will occur during the drill program at Odyssey and Ford.”
Dormer noted the tenor and quantum of the sampling to date makes it even more amazing that Pearl has never been subject to exploration drilling.
Golden Mile isn’t alone in seeing the jurisdiction as a path to copper and gold success, with Stockhead contributor Kristie Batten noting the majors are copper crazy in Arizona.
Donald Trump’s return to the White House promises a change in fortune for stalled stateside miners, and G88 could be one of the explorers in line to benefit from a material now on the US critical list.
It’s still early days at Pearl, but sampling has already led to an expanded maiden drill program before results which eclipsed previous highs of copper, zinc and lead in December.
The project sits within a porphyry copper province which accounted for around 70% of US production in 2023, but is surprisingly undrilled. That will soon change.
While Aurora won’t be investigated in this round, all permits are in and expected back in the coming weeks to begin drilling over Odyssey and Ford.
The plan is for an initial RC program of up to 1800m, supported by mapping and high-grade multi-metallics and designed to target high-grade zones beneath historical workings.
