Special Report: Maiden drilling to test highly prospective yet underexplored prospects has started at Golden Mile Resources’ flagship Pearl copper project in Arizona.
The initial reverse circulation program – the first time that any drilling has been conducted at the project – will include up to sixteen holes totalling up to 1800m and will test the Odyssey and Ford prospects.
Both targets are centred on historical mine workings that operated between 1915 and 1942 and are known to have produced high-grade copper.
Golden Mile Resources (ASX:G88) and its Pearl copper project are well positioned to capitalise on the US Government’s push to secure critical mineral supply chains and increase domestic copper production.
“We are thrilled to be underway with this important drilling program which will test the high-grade potential of the Odyssey and Ford prospects at our flagship Pearl copper project in Arizona,” managing director Damon Dormer said.
“The US has made its intentions very clear, as it enters the ‘Drill, Baby, Drill’ era, to secure domestic energy and critical minerals supply chains, and G88 is in a prime position to capitalise on this strategy.
“It has been well publicised that copper has been placed on the critical minerals list by Presidential Executive Order issued in March, and we have certainly noticed the increased attention copper projects in Arizona have drawn from the Federal Government in the US over recent weeks.
“Given the important role domestic copper production will play in the US moving forward, we are also witnessing multiple new funding pathways becoming available through related government agencies such as the Department of Defense.”

Drill targets
At Odyssey, the drill program will target an 800m zone of the mineralised structure which hosts three quartz veins with polymetallic mineralisation dipping between 60 and 80 degrees to the west.
Over at Ford, drilling will target below the historical mine which was established down to about 60m.
Dormer said the company will be drilling under historical workings that have never been tested previously, providing the possibility of making not one, but two potential discoveries.
Initial drilling is expected to be completed by the end of May with first results expected shortly after.
