• Anson starts resource drilling at the Green River lithium brine project in Utah
  • First hole to reach as deep as ~3,292m to sample the Mississippian Units and Clastic Zones
  • Core will be collected to assist assessment of porosity, permeability and other key factors for resource definition

Special Report: Anson Resources has started drilling aimed at defining a maiden resource for its potentially extensive Green River lithium brine project in Utah’s Paradox Basin.

Green River has a large, conceptual exploration target of between 2Bt and 2.6Bt of brines grading 100ppm to 150ppm lithium and 2,000ppm to 3,000ppm bromine.

Early work has already indicated that lithium-rich brines at the 106.2km2 project could flow to the surface naturally, which would then potentially reduce operating costs by eliminating the need for mechanical pumping to extract brines from depth.

Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) intends to develop Green River in parallel with its flagship asset, the nearby 1.038Mt LCE Paradox lithium project, which has similar geological, metallurgical and structural characteristics.

All regulatory approvals are in place with the company having already received the key Notice of Intent approval and grant of the Application Permit to Drill from the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining (UDOGM) Minerals Division earlier this month.

Drilling is now under way at the Bosydaba-1 exploration well, which will be drilled to a depth of ~3,292m to sample the Mississippian Units and Clastic Zones, as the first phase of the resource definition program at Green River.

It is being undertaken on the company’s recently acquired industrial-use land, which has been re-zoned as a Conditional Use Permit that allows for exploration drilling and mineral processing to be carried out.

Core will also be collected to assist the assessment of porosity, permeability and other key factors from which ASN plans to confirm a maiden resource at the project.

Drilling is expected to be completed in the current quarter with results released when available.
