American Uranium fires up uranium resource drilling at Lo Herma

  • Two-phase resource development program, with first phase to target resource expansion
  • Second infill phase designed to increase resource confidence and upgrade JORC categories
  • Drilling results to support an updated scoping study scheduled for Q2 2026

Special Report: American Uranium has initiated a two-phase drilling campaign at the Lo Herma uranium project in Wyoming, US, targeting resource expansion and a JORC upgrade.

Phase 1 will involve primarily resource expansion drilling aimed at increasing the existing 8.57Mlb uranium resource ahead of an interim mineral resource estimate (MRE) update in early 2026.

AMU will infill the resource area with its second phase of drilling, aiming to increase confidence and upgrade the MRE’s JORC category ahead of a scoping study update planned for Q2 2026.

American Uranium (ASX:AMU) CEO and executive director Bruce Lane said the company was delighted to begin the first phase of the resource drilling campaign at Lo Herma.

“We’re excited to be in a strong position to be able to complete this first phase of resource expansion drilling this quarter, with an interim mineral resource estimate update expected in early 2026,” he said.

“This program marks an important step towards advancing one of America’s most promising near-term, low-cost ISR uranium projects.

“Lo Herma is one of the few new near-term, low-cost ISR projects in the U.S. and the drilling campaign will target both growth in the current 8.57Mlb resource base and increased confidence in mineral resources.”

Targeting mine units 1 and 2

AMU’s drilling program has scope for up to 121 holes drilled over 37,500m in total.

Phase 1 will include 50 holes over 15,000m in step out drilling designed to expand the resource base by targeting known mineralised rollfronts.

The drill bit will test areas mostly to the north of AMU’s proposed mining units (MU1 and MU2).

The company will then drill up to another 71 holes over 22,500m in early 2026, targeting an increase to the indicated or measured JORC category for La Herma’s MRE.

“This work is expected to feed into a further resource upgrade and updated Scoping Study in the first half of 2026 to demonstrate Lo Herma’s potential to deliver similar economic potential to ISR uranium mines currently being planned or constructed in Wyoming such as Ur-Energy’s Shirley Basin project,” Lane said.

Shirley Basin holds an MRE at 8.8Mlb of uranium in the measured and indicated categories and Ur-Energy expects to recover about 6.4 million pounds in production.
