- Phase one resource development drilling to start this week at the Lo Herma ISR uranium project
- Two-phase program to begin with resource expansion before moving to infill drilling
- Second phase will increase resource confidence and upgrade JORC categories ahead of scoping study in Q2 2026
Special Report: Resource expansion drilling is ready for an early start at the Lo Herma in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium project in Wyoming after American Uranium mobilised a drill rig to site ahead of schedule.
The company is undertaking a two-phase resource development program beginning this week.
The first phase will target an expansion of American Uranium’s (ASX:AMU) existing 8.57Mlb uranium resource estimate at Lo Herma, with the goal of producing an updated estimate by early 2026.
The second phase will focus on infill drilling, increasing confidence in the resource and upgrading its JORC categories ahead of an updated scoping study scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.
AMU CEO and executive director Bruce Lane said the company was pleased to begin the first phase of drilling ahead of schedule.
“We’re excited to be in a strong position to be able to complete this first phase of resource expansion drilling this quarter, with an interim mineral resource estimate update expected in early 2026,” he said.

Building toward updated scoping study
AMU’s drilling program is permitted for up to 121 holes across 37,500m, centred on proposed mine units 1 and 2.
The first phase of extensional drilling will include around 50 holes for about 15,000m, while the second will infill the resource with approximately 71 holes for circa 22,500m.
AMU CEO Bruce Lane said the program marked an important step toward advancing one of America’s most promising near-term, low-cost ISR uranium projects.
“This work is expected to feed into a further resource upgrade and updated scoping study in the first half of 2026 to demonstrate Lo Herma’s potential to deliver similar economic potential to ISR uranium mines currently being planned or constructed in Wyoming such as Ur-Energy’s Shirley Basin project,” he said.
