Weekly ASX small cap wrap: Who’s overexaggerating their efforts this week?

Schools are gradually opening in Australia and that means kids will be back in their classrooms (not that EdTech stocks are worried).
Of greater interest though is this, did Dads or Mums do more of the home schooling while the kids were stuck at home?
A poll by the New York Times found that nearly half of all fathers with children under the age of 12 report spending more time on home schooling than their spouses.
The mothers rubbished this claim with just 3 per cent saying their partners do more and a whopping 80 per cent saying they do all the hard work.
To top it off, while both men and women are doing more housework and childcare during the lockdown, the amount of work is still not being split equally.
Seventy per cent of women say they are fully or mostly responsible for housework and 66 per cent for child care, while just 20 per cent of men say their spouses are fully or mostly responsible for both housework and child care.
So just who is right?
Well the evidence is against men, past research has consistently shown that men often overestimate the amount they do and there is little reason to believe that the lockdown restrictions have changed that.
What is not disputed though is that these are the biggest small cap movers on the ASX this week.
Alliance Resources (ASX:AGS) +122%
Rocking its way up to the second place this week is gold explorer Alliance Resources, which said its reverse circulation drilling program had identified significant intersections of high-grade gold at the Weednanna gold deposit in South Australia.
This included a top intersection of 2m at 154 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a depth of 15m within a broader zone of 5m at 63.8g/t gold from 14m, which highlights the potential for a shallow, high-grade open pit at Shoot 10.
The company said it now plans to upgrade the mineral resource estimate for gold and iron ore at Weednanna, and “commence feasibility study level assessment of the commercial viability of the deposit”.
Golden Deeps (ASX:GED) +120%
Despite having its Chinese partner, the ironically-named Generous Metals Company, bail on their joint venture deal over the high-grade Abenab vanadium-lead-zinc project in Namibia, Golden Deeps was still one of the top small cap performers this week.
This might be due to the company’s move to review several Australia-based gold projects, which investors might consider to be less risky than a project in Africa with a commodity (vanadium) that is facing softer demand in the short to medium term.

Kazakhstan-focused oil and gas stock Jupiter Energy (ASX:JPR) was the biggest loser on the ASX after blaming “recommendation or recommendations in relation to Jupiter lodged via social media” for why its share price spiked on big volumes on April 22-23.
