Li-S Energy (ASX:LIS) says it has boosted volumetric energy density (the energy stored for a given cell volume) by 45% in its new semi-solid state lithium sulfur battery.

This could significantly reduce the physical size of the battery packs needed for the same energy stored, or significantly increase the energy stored in a given space, the company says.

“The new GEN3 cells are currently demonstrating a gravimetric energy density in our laboratories of over 400 Wh/kg, and a volumetric energy density of 540 Wh/l,” it says.

“Compared to current Li-ion cells this is nearly double the gravimetric energy density and comparable for volumetric energy density.

“In practical terms this means that our cells are now the same physical size as existing Li-ion batteries but half the weight.”

Aspiring gold miner Besra (ASX:BEZ) has received initial payment of $US2m from Quantum Metal Recovery ahead of finalising the US$300m offtake funding facility.

BEZ is entitled to a further US$3m upon execution of the agreement, expected in late April 2023. Thereafter Quantum is to pay BEZ up to US$10m per month up to a limit of US$300m.

The cash will be used to fund development of the 3Moz Bau project.

New drilling at Killi Resources’ (ASX:KLI) at ‘Rocky’ in Queensland will target a 8Moz Ravenswood analogue, the company says.

‘We believe Rocky to be a significant new intrusive system in the Charters Towers/Ravenswood district,” KLI CEO Kathryn Cutler says.

“Rocky draws strong comparisons to Ravenswood gold deposits 50kms down the road and only has five holes drilled in the system to date, so we have a huge opportunity here to discover a new gold deposit for the region.”
