It was a green day for iron ore plays, with Carpentaria Resources (ASX:CAP), Mindax (ASX:MDX) and Juno (ASX:JNO) all making gains.

Among stocks with announcements, Great Northern Minerals (ASX:GNM) surged on strong volume after a big high-grade gold hit at its Camel Creek project in North Queensland.

Argent Minerals (ASX:ARD) also rose strongly after announcing the Strike Drilling reverse circulation drill rig has arrived at its full-owned Pine Ridge gold project.
