Lunchtime ASX small cap wrap: Who’s getting into the space race today?

Have you ever wondered what Tom DeLonge was up to since he left Blink-182?

He’s gone from playing all the small things to a very big thing. He founded a UFO & extra-terrestial focused research academy and it has just signed a deal with the US Army.

For the next 5 years the two will collaborate. Tom’s sister Kari, who is Chief Content Officer went so far as to compare the deal to the Space Race in the 1960s.

Today on the markets, the ASX Small Ords is up 0.5 per cent to 2,882 while ASX 200 rose 0.70 per cent to 6,740.

Going up

For the second day in a row, the biggest winner is Novita Healthcare (ASX:NHL), which is up another 67 per cent. While it had nothing new today (except its annual report), yesterday it got the green light to deploy its technology in the US this quarter.

Botanix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:BOT) rallied 17 per cent after plunging on Wednesday due to shareholder disappointment with its clinical trial results.

Latin Resources (ASX:LRS) surged 42 per cent announcing it was buying a halloysite project.

Going down

Despite a positive quarterly, a major shareholder wanted to sell out of Althea (ASX:AGH) and it did so. The company has fallen 14 per cent.

Imagion Biosystems (ASX:IBX) fell 18 per cent after it revealed it was having manufacturing challenges.

Something a little different…

Speaking of space, last week Virgin Galactic was showing off its space wear.

Next week it will list on the New York Stock Exchange thereby becoming the only listed space tourism company in the world.

Scoop! @virgingalactic is set to debut on the @NYSE under the ticker $SPCE on Monday.
