Here’s all your small cap winners and losers up to lunch, but first – an analyst believes YouTube is worth $300 billion as a standalone company, despite being a loss-maker (probably) for the $US900 billion ($1.3 billion) market cap Alphabet right now.
As a $300 billion standalone company, YouTube would be one of the 15 biggest on the S&P 500 – with a market value greater than Exxon Mobil ($US289 billion) or Bank of America ($US291 billion), says cnbc.
And it would be a great return for Google, which snapped up the video sharing platform for just $1.65 billion in 2006.
Today, the ASX Small Ords was down 10.8 points (or 0.37 per cent) to 2874.8 points by lunchtime. Over the past 12 months the index — which is the benchmark for small (ish) cap performance — is up almost 18.5 per cent.

GOING UP
Chase Mining (ASX:CML) shares spiked over 70 per cent this morning on news it had hit wide massive sulphide zones of nickel and copper at its Alotta prospect, just 32m from surface.
South African based Universal Coal (ASX:UNV) was up ~16 per cent after $190m market cap miner Terracom (ASX:TER) purchased 19.9 per cent of the company for $34.6m.
And AJ Lucas (ASX:AJL) says early flow test data from shale gas explorer Cuadrilla in Lancashire is “very encouraging”, which sent the stock up about 14 per cent in morning trade.
“Once separated out at surface from any accompanying water this gas could, we believe, flow directly into the UK’s extensive onshore gas transportation network without requiring additional treatment or processing,” Cuadrilla chief executive officer Francis Egan says.
AJ Lucas holds 47.68 per cent of Cuadrilla.
