Happy Monday – we hope you’re in better nick to start the week than Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

Cerrone is the UFC fighter who found himself on the receiving end of a battering yesterday from Irish star Conor McGregor.

The fight only lasted 40 seconds, but that was enough time for McGregor to inflict some serious damage on Cowboy’s face:

It marked a return to form for the Irishman, who hadn’t won for more than three years since his 2017 detour to fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

Before then, he established a huge global following in mixed martial arts (MMA) by combining some big wins with a near-legendary level of trash talk.

And the excitement was certainly palpable following the result, as fight fans got some long-awaited confirmation that McGregor is still a menace inside the UFC Octagon.

Local markets haven’t had a particularly exciting start the week, although the ASX200 continues to rally higher in what’s been a huge start to the year for stocks.

The ASX200 was up 0.35 per cent to 7,089, while the Small Ords index climbed by 0.42 per cent to 3,075.

G Medical (ASX:GMV)

It’s been a great couple of days for shareholders in the biotech company, which rose sharply again after a surge on Friday on some more good news out of Asia.

After announcing some positive regulatory developments out of China to end the week, the company said this morning it also received approval from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration for its Prizma technology — a device which “allows consumers to turn their smartphone into a mobile medical monitor”.

Shares in G Medical rose by another 38 per cent into midday trade, following a 44 per cent gain on Friday.

Credit Intelligence (ASX:CI1)

The debt restructuring company has also benefited on developments out of Asia, but this time of the geopolitical variety.

Last August, CI1 said tension stemming from the protests in Hong Kong were likely to lead to more bankruptcies in the region. And according to its latest unaudited trading update, revenue for the six months to the end of December rose to $5.3m — an increase of 90 per cent on the prior corresponding period.

Shares in Singapore-based minnow Netccentric also rose strongly, after it announced that Malaysian entrepreneur Ganesh Kumar Bangah had acquired an interest in the company.

Netccentric said it believed that “with Ganesh’s expertise in various fields, he will be able to add value to the company”.
