Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Friday October 26:

After yesterday’s bloodbath, where the ASX Small Ords closed at a yearly low of 2,562.7, there were signs of recovery in early trade.

The small cap index was up 7.7 points or 0.3 per cent to 2,570.6 at 11.15am AEST.

About 500 of the ASX’s 1700 small caps under $400 million market cap made morning gains.

But by the end of the day most Aussie indicies had slipped back into the red. The Small Ords was down 0.9 per cent to 2532 near the close.

GOING UP

Recruitment tech company Nvoi (ASX:NVO) enjoyed a strong morning, rising 57 per cent to an intraday high of 1.1c — its highest point in more than a month.

That was on the back of the company releasing its latest quarterly update after market close yesterday.  It highlighted Nvoi’s appointment as a founding member of IBM’s SaaS advisory council, as well as the launch of newly enhanced website.

Aerospace manufacturer Quickstep (ASX:QHL) rose eight per cent to an intraday high of 8c after forecasting that it would be cashflow positive for FY19.

Quickstep, which makes parts for the aerospace, defence and automative manufacturing sectors, is forecasting at least a 20 per cent rise in revenue for FY19, as well as positive earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) and positive operating cashflow.

More than $2.5 million worth of shares in Bard1 Life Sciences (ASX:BD1) traded hands this morning, with the biotech rising 19 per cent to an intraday high of 4.4c.

Earlier this week the cancer fighter rose about 475 per cent after adding breast cancer testing to its lineup.

BARD1 has combined a biomarker and an algorithm into a blood test that can detect 6 per cent more cases of ovarian cancer than simply by using the algorithm.

Shareroot (ASX:SRO) rose 33 per cent to an intraday high of 0.4c after announcing today it had entered into an agreement with SAAVHA, a SaaS platform leveraging blockchain to boost security for businesses.

ShareRoot’s CEO Noah Abelson-Gertler said of the deal, “While other companies actively raise concerns about Facebook and similar breaches, we are continuing to bring solutions to market, in this case allowing consumers and customers to activate a frictionless layer of authentication via a voice print. In working with SAAVHA we are developing applications for data and online security analogous to single touch pay interface empowering customers to control their data security.”

GOING DOWN

Biotron (ASX:BIT) fell 10 per cent this morning to an intraday low of 18c. The HIV researcher famously rose more than 2,000 per cent in recent weeks, thought it has since lost ground from its highs of 44.5c last month.

The company had no news out today though it put out its quarterly a few days ago and is on a roadshow to investors.
