Last Orders: Small caps gain 1pc+ but large caps flat

ASX large caps finished the day flat but small caps gained over 1 per cent.

The ASX 200 closed at 6,714 for the second day in a row but the ASX Emerging Companies Index rose 1.25 per cent to 1,972 points. The ASX Small Ords rose 0.65 per cent to 3,146.

Tech dropped again by 1.61 per cent but industrials and consumer discretionary stocks gained nearly 1 per cent.

The top stock today was MetalsTech (ASX:MTC), which gave an update on its Slovak gold and Canadian lithium projects where it hinted commercialisation at the latter of these was close.

Another ASX stock has joined the fight against COVID-19 in ResApp (ASX:RAP). The company will start a US clinical study to investigate if its smartphone app can identify COVID-19.

Cybersecurity stock Tesserent (ASX:TNT) released its half yearly results in which it reported that year on year turnover was up 500 per cent to $36.5 million. Shares moved slightly upwards after declining for several weeks as part of the fall in the broader tech sector.

Cannabis cultivator Little Green Pharma (ASX:LGP), which in January was chosen to supply a major medicinal cannabis clinical trial in France, announced it had delivered the first shipment of oils to use in the trial.

Fellow cannabis play Epsilon Healthcare (ASX:EPN) opened its first face to face clinic in South Yarra, Melbourne, which hosted first consultations today.

WA explorer Golden Mile (ASX:G88) has picked up a nickel, copper and platinum group metals prospective project – Yarrambee – and raised $800,000 to fund an exploration program. It claims to be the largest landholder across the Narndee-Igneous Complex with over 800 square kilometres under tenure.
