BCAL Diagnostics (ASX:BDX) has announced breakthrough results and major steps towards commercialisation of its breast cancer diagnostic test, achieving an impressive sensitivity of 90% and a specificity of 85.5%.

This validation shows strong potential performance with a balance of sensitivity (ability to detect true positive samples), and specificity (ability to detect true negative samples).

These results are also consistent with the findings of earlier studies conducted in Australia using a different mass spectrometry platform.

What this means is that the BCAL breast cancer test should readily be capable of being replicated not only in BCAL’s dedicated laboratory in Australia but, more importantly, will enable blood samples to be analysed (using the BCAL test) in commercial laboratories throughout the world.

The company now expects first sales in the second half of 2024.

YPB Group (ASX:YPB) has successfully adapted its scanner technology into an OEM module for automated pull tab/instant lottery ticket vending/payout machines – with the first such modules now integrated and tested successfully.

The company says it’s a big milestone for a big market, with the US instant lotteries market valued at US$65 billion in 2021, accounting for 62% of all USA lottery sales in 2021 and the EU instant lotteries market at almost identical size in 2021.

With this trial and manufacture phase now complete the first round of approvals can be sought from individual State Gaming Departments for field testing.

American West Metals (ASX:AW1) has revealed a “major discovery” at the Storm project in Canada, with diamond drilling of a large gravity target intersecting thick intervals of copper sulphides – which the company says could be a very large copper deposit.

The two diamond drill holes were punched in 680m apart — the continuity of the mineralised horizon and the size of the gravity anomaly,>5km long and up to 1km wide, suggests that drilling has potentially identified a very large copper deposit, it says.

“We are very excited to announce that the diamond drilling has had immediate success and produced spectacular results confirming the presence of a major copper system within the Storm Project,” MD Dave O’Neill said.

Assays are pending.

Nex Metals Exploration (ASX:NME) has released its quarterly, detailing a ongoing discussions regarding processing of tailings and the establishment of a processing facility at Kookynie – oh and some pending legal matters over its Yundamindera tenements and a joint venture costs claim by Metalicity (ASX:MCT) subsidiary Kym Mining, which is seeking $1.28m.

And Golden State Mining (ASX:GSM) has confirmed “aggressive” RC drilling campaign is underway at the Nomad lithium prospect, part of the Yule project in the Pilbara.
