The ASX retreated again as angst over inflation and the withdrawal of stimulus continued to weigh on global markets.

The ASX 200 closed at 7,300 – 0.28% lower than Friday’s close.

Tech was the biggest laggard, losing nearly 3% but energy and resources were exceptions to the downward trend with each gaining over 1%.

Nova Minerals (ASX:NVA) led the pack after announcing some market-moving ‘bonanza’ grade gold hits (including 132m at 10.1 g/t) at its Estelle gold project in Alaska.

Vanadium Resources (ASX:VR8) rose with news of a capital raising.

While the majority of stocks completing capital raisings drop given the discount it is conducted at, this deal was done at a 64% premium to its 30 day volume weighted average price and was led by Johannesburg listed mining services entity Raubex Group.

Star Entertainment Group (ASX:SGR) plunged after allegations were made against the company by Fairfax that threaten its chances of having its casino license renewed.

Pharmacy operator and takeover target Australian Pharma Industries (ASX:API) advised shareholders it anticipated earnings after tax of $28 million for the 12 month period ending on August 31. The company credited stronger trading conditions in its suburban and regional pharmacies as well as elevated volumes through its distribution businesses.

Retirement village seller Summerset (ASX:SNZ) reported 199 sales for the September quarter. The result takes its 2021 total to 744, 95% of levels achieved for the 2020 full year.

Valor Resources (ASX:VAL) reported widespread significant copper mineralisation from a recent surface sampling program at its Picha project. The company says the results highlight the company’s potential and it intends to follow up these results with ground-based geophysics and then with drilling.

Corella Resources (ASX:CR9) reported rock silica assay results from its Bonnie Rock project. Grades were up to 99.91% SiO2, results the company said were outstanding.

Pharmaceutical firm Acrux (ASX:ACR) said its licence agreement with Harris Pharmaceuticals was terminated after the latter company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US. However the company said it was negotiating a licence agreement with another company.

Drilling services company DDH1 (ASX:DDH) has added three new rigs to its fleet of surface mineral drilling rigs. These are due for delivery in mid-2022 and feature hands-free technology.
