Closing Bell: ASX gains to close out the week as US default fears ease

The ASX had a positive end to the week with the ASX 200 gaining 0.87% today taking its weekly gain to 1.9%.

All sectors gained with the best being resources which gained nearly 1.7%.

Australia’s rise was in line with the broader Asia-Pacific region thanks to concerns about a US default easing and China releasing better than expected economic data.

Sensera (ASX:SE1) plunged after telling shareholders it was not able to go ahead with its plans to provide rapid COVID testing in volumes that would make it commercially viable.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS YOU MAY’VE MISSED

Engineering company Korvest (ASX:KOV) released updated profit guidance for FY22. It expects that the first half profit before tax will exceed $8 million as long as there are no further COVID-19 related construction shutdowns.

Elanor (ASX:ENN) announced its Healthcare Real Estate Fund acquired Highpoint Health Hub in Brisbane for $51.9 million. This is the sixth acquisition by the fund and takes the portfolio to over $267 million.

Lumos Diagnostics (ASX:LDX) agreed to withdraw an announcement outlining an economic evaluation of its FebriDx respiratory disease test. The company said it was not intended to constitute a financial forecast of the potential market for FebriDx.

Cynata Therapeutics (ASX:CYP) announced a planned Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) review of Cynata’s MEND clinical trial was completed. The review recommended the trial continue unchanged.

Bardoc Gold (ASX:BDC) announced a 6:1 share consolidation subject to shareholder approval at its 30 November AGM. The company says the proposed consolidation would result in a more appropriate and effective capital structure.

Metcash (ASX:MTS)  CEO Jeff Adams handed in his resignation to the board ending a 4 year tenure. Succeeding him will be Doug Jones, currently the CEO of South African company Massmart Wholesale.
