In case you missed it, fans at the Miami-Appalachian State NFL game in Miami on the weekend made the craziest catch of the game.

But it wasn’t a football.

A stray cat somehow got into the stadium and fell from the upper deck – but some quick-thinking fans managed to use an American flag to catch it.

Miami coach Manny Diaz learned of the incident after the game.

“I don’t know anything about that or what was going on,” he said.

“But I’ll tell you, if the cat will help us in our red-zone offense I’m going to see if we can give it a scholarship.”

To Markets …

In a solid start to the week, the ASX 200 is up 26.10 points or 0.35% at midday today to 7431.50.

The CBA Global Economic and Markets Research report noted that RBA Governor Lowe will deliver an address to the Anika Foundation tomorrow.

Economist Stephen Wu said the speech – titled ‘Delta, the Economy and Monetary Policy’ – is likely to provide additional colour to the most recent monetary policy decision.

“The RBA in their September meeting maintained the planned taper but extended their commitment to buy bonds at $A4bn/week until February 2022. There may also be a preview of the RBA’s new forecasts,” he said.

Global oil prices rose by just over 2% on Friday on news of a phone call between US and Chinese leaders.

And production disruptions in the Gulf of Mexico continued to support prices, with the Brent crude price rising by US$1.47 or 2.1% to US$72.92 a barrel.

Woodside (ASX:WPL) is up 1.61%, along with Santos (ASX:STO) up 2.64%.

Base metal prices also rose by up to 3.4% on Friday with copper up the most.

Metals also rose 2.8-7.3% with aluminium up the most, but over the week iron ore fell by US$1.75 a tonne or 1.3% to US$128.75 a tonne.

BHP (ASX:BHP) is up 1.33%, along with Fortescue (ASX:FMG) up 2.9% and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) up 1.66%.
