Cold beer on a summer’s day and strong investment returns are two things classified as ‘good’ by the Stockhead editorial board.
But on the quality scale, you’d have to be talking about a small cap 10-bagger to match these lucky surfers, who headed out for a sesh at Lennox Head on the NSW coast and found themselves in esteemed company.
Those good vibes didn’t extend to markets, with a sea of red across the major indexes in Thursday trade.
After tracking sideways all week, the ASX 200 ran out of puff today and posted a sharp decline of more than 1% in morning trade.
There were no major laggards across the major sectors, with steady falls in financials, resources, IT and consumer stocks.
USD gold remains below $US1,800 an ounce, as the US dollar consolidates its gains from earlier in the week while Bitcoin has stabilised around the US$46,000 level following yesterday’s sharp selloff.

Small cap resources play Hannans Ltd (ASX:HNR) jumped after announcing it’s signed an Memorandum of Understanding (not yet legally binding) with unlisted Australian registered company Critical Metals Ltd.
The deal gives HNR the rights to recover high purity metals from scrap and spent lithium-ion batteries and commercialise its lithium recycling technology across Nordic markets in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.
Also rising was medtech company Adherium (ASX:ADR) announced a US FDA 510(k) approval to market its the Hailie Sensor with physiological measures, for use in monitoring Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
And Israel-based semiconductor technology Weebit Nano (ASX:WBT) climbed back towards new all-time highs after announcing a production and licensing agreement with a subsidiary of the Nasdaq-listed SkyWater Technology.
