As the saying goes; if you can’t take the heat, then get out of the kitchen planet earth entirely, according to a new report on climate change.

Analysts at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) say the world is now on track to warm by 1.5C by early next decade — a fair bit quicker than previously thought.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the report a “code-red for humanity” and said global nations still need to work together to prevent climate projections from reaching worst-case scenarios.

Despite renewed forecasts of a possible climate catastrophe, the ASX200 has almost fallen…asleep.

After finishing dead flat yesterday for first time since 2016, local stocks are practically unmoved again in the Tuesday session.

The microcap Emerging Companies Index outperformed to rise by around 0.5%, with few intraday catalysts emerging in Asian trade.

US stock futures are pointing slightly lower and gold is holding at just above US$1,730 an ounce.
