The State of Wyoming has proven there really is an app for everything with a ‘Road to Table’ app that lets locals claim roadkill for their dinner table.
Basically, it’s a roadkill feature within the State Department of Transportation app that helps people claim accidentally killed deer, elk, moose, wild bison or wild turkey.
Wyoming has been trying to reduce the number of animals killed on its roads each year, from mowing verges to installing warning signs and even fancy wildlife underpasses along migration routes.
And this new app allows wildlife biologists and highway officials to collect geotag and species data to decide where to focus their efforts.
Wyoming is now one of around 30 states in the US that allows people to collect roadkill for food.
To Markets …
The ASX 200 is up 76.30 points or 1.08% at midday today to 7,139.90.
Investors remain focused on Ukraine, with the European stocks rising last week as market sentiment improved after Russian President Vladimir Putin said there had been some progress in talks with Ukraine.
Although some of the optimism has been trimmed,” IG analysts say.
“There is as yet no sign of any real deal emerging and Russia’s previous aims still appear to be in place, so this rally might go the way of so many others of late, with markets still unable to find the foundations for a sustainable bounce.”
This week could bring more choppiness in the US. The Federal Reserve meets Tuesday and Wednesday to vote on whether to raise the base interest rate and by how much.
Fed-funds futures, used by traders to wager on interest-rate moves, see a 96% probability of a rate increase of 0.25 percentage point at the meeting. A month ago, they showed a roughly 50% probability of a rate increase of 0.50 percentage point.
Investors and traders said they are also bracing for more sanctions imposed on Russia by the West.
President Biden said Friday that the US will join major allies and the European Union in moving to revoke normal trade relations with Russia.
“Everyone’s on edge,” said Joseph Amato, chief investment officer of equities at Neuberger Berman Group LLC. The market is ready to bounce back if the Ukraine crisis de-escalates, he said, but markets could also be more volatile and fall further if it worsens.
