Thursday trade is underway, which means stonks stocks are once again going…lower?
That’s it:
The ASX has followed Wall Street into the red this morning, in what marks a rare down day in the year-end 2020 bull market.
Losses were felt more keenly on the NASDAQ overnight, which fell 1.94 per cent (its biggest daily drop since October 30) as Tesla (-7pc) led a big tech selloff.
ASX microcaps had a wobble as the Emerging Companies Index index initially fell more than one per cent, before recouping a bit of ground into midday trade.
Political risk is back in play, as US lawmakers remain unable to agree on the finer points of an additional stimulus package.
And across the pond, nervous investors sold off the British pound amid lingering uncertainty that the UK will be able to secure a last-minute agreement on Brexit talks with the European Union.

Despite the broader selloff, biotechs led the way as a number of small caps outperformed on market-moving announcements.
Leading the pack was cancer-fighter Immutep (ASX:IMM), which announced Phase IIb trial results for its efti drug used in the treatment of late-stage breast cancer.
The company said the results laid the groundwork for a number of potential use-cases, with additional testing now underway through to the middle of next year.
Also on the winner’s list was molecular diagnostics company Genetic Technologies (ASX:GTG), which makes cancer predictive testing and assessment tools.
Shares in the company ticked higher to 0.9c, coinciding with its annual general meeting held this morning.
