Tennis Singles world No.1 Ash Barty knows how to switch off.  Barty had fans smiling in her post-match on-court interview after winning the semi-final of the Australian Open yesterday, saying she wouldn’t watch the second semi-final.

“It will be a hell of a match tonight. I probably won’t watch it, though,” she said smiling.

“Tyzz (her coach Craig Tyzzer) can watch that. We keep doing our thing, our routines and come out here on Saturday, enjoy it, a massive smile on my face and see what happens.”

Barty, well known for being prepared for each match,  will face American Danielle Collins  as the first local player to reach the Australian Open Women’s final in 42 years.

For investors, perhaps taking a lesson from Ash Barty’s game book and learning to switch off might be wise, this week.

At midday, the ASX looked like it was going to retreat after an early morning surge, before lifting sharply going into the afternoon session.

But the positive economic news failed to calm markets. The S&P 500 fell by 0.54%, the Dow Jones by 0.02% and tech heavy Nasdaq by 1.40%. The Nasdaq index was dragged down by Tesla, plunging 11.55%.
