Here are the key ASX small cap winners and losers at lunch Wednesday Aug 15:
GOING UP
3D Oil (ASX:TDO) is soaring today after telling investors it may be the next to find oil in the region of Carnarvon’s Dorado-1 discoveries off the coast of Western Australia last week.
3D Oil owns the rights to a 6500 sq km project just 80km north-east of Dorado-1.
“3D Oil has identified at least fifteen leads across the permit … considered to be prospective for oil,” the explorer said today.
The stock moved ahead 71 per cent to an intraday high of 18c.
Klaus Eckhof’s new vehicle Lachlan Star (ASX:LSA) has contnued its upward journey as it searches for a new project.
The former AVZ Minerals chairman told Stockhead yesterday he had his eye on a little known metal called rhodium for the new venture — but nothing had been decided.
Mr Eckhof was brought in to the recapitalised Lachlan Star to deliver a flagship project. The stock promptly jumped 64 per cent. By 11.30am AEST today it was up another 37 per cent to 2.2c on $500,000 in trades.
High-profile tech stock Updater (ASX:UPD) gained 9 per cent to a high of $1.30 after doing an Elon Musk and announcing plans to delist from the ASX and go private to “pursue its next phase of growth in the United States”.
The Australian market has been kind to the online relocation service. Updater’s shares have rocketed 358 per cent since the $665 million company listed at the outset of 2016.

Updater provides a website that lets Americans moving house update all their details and utilities in one place. Updater makes money by on-selling that customer data to third-party services such as insurance providers.
Updater aims to buy back shares at $1.25 each or the highest price at which it has raised capital on the ASX.
The shares cooled to $1.19 just before midday.
In the no-news-is-good-news department, Gulf Manganese (ASX:GMC) shares gained 23 per cent to 1.6c with no announcements.
About $440,000 worth of shares changed hands this morning in 77 trades. Another 100 buyers were in the queue at the time of publishing.

GOING DOWN
Internet of Things play Sensera (ASX:SE1) lost 17 per cent to 12c after announcing an $8.8 million capital raising priced at 11c — and unveiling a $7 million loss.
Sensera’s chief Ralph Schmitt told Stockhead last week that “people have realised that we are going to need to do another round of financing.
“People are not happy with the fact that there hasn’t been correlation between the share price and the performance of the company operationally.”
Sensera makes tiny sensors called Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (or MEMS) used to measure things like temperature, pressure, chemicals, radiation or location.
The stock listed in December 2016 after a $10 million IPO selling shares at 20c.
