Invictus now has a much clearer picture of the giant Muzarabani gas-condensate prospect after receiving the post-stack migration dataset from its recent 2D seismic survey.
The company said the data quality is excellent and improves definition over the prospect and basin margin fault with numerous seismic anomalies observed.
These anomalies are observed both across faults within the structure, at multiple levels under the prospect and along the Basin Margin fault and will be subject to close scrutiny.
Invictus Energy (ASX:IVZ) says while seismic anomalies can be difficult to calibrate in undrilled frontier areas, they can often be indicators for the presence of trapped hydrocarbons.
Seismic interpretation
The company has also received the reprocessed data from the legacy Mobil survey from the same contractor, which will result in a contractor-consistent and process-consistent data set that minimises irregularities between the two data sets, providing a comprehensive and confident basis for seismic interpretation.
Delivery of the final data set – the pre-stacked time migrated sections – that include further image enhancements is scheduled for early February 2022.
The company noted the wireless node technology used by Polaris allowed the company to lay parallel listening lines to the seismic lines being recorded at the time of survey, which provides a virtual 3D image of the deeper structures within the survey area.
Drilling of the two-well program remains on track to start in May with the first well Muzarabani-1 to test the targets potential to host 8.2 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas and 247 million barrels (MMbbl) of condensate.
