Arafura Resources (ASX:ARU) is an up and coming supplier of Neodymium-Praseodymium (NdPr) – rare earths that have a number of applications in many industries including automotive, clean energy, consumer electronics, healthcare and factory automation. NdPr’s main use is in high-strength permanent magnets in electric vehicles, wind turbines and mobile phones.
Arafura is developing the Nolans NdPr Project in the Northern Territory which the company expects will be a long-life mining and chemical processing operation that could supply up to 10 per cent of the world’s demand for NdPr when in full production.
Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets are vital to the global automotive industry and Arafura expects that demand for NdPr will grow substantially in the coming years. The Nolans Project is on track to enter the global NdPr supply chain in the early 2020s.
