Metalicity has added a third prospective tenement application to its portfolio at the Mt Surprise project in North Queensland as it eyes a copper trend that could extend beyond 5km in length.

The new 35km2 tenement application, expected to be granted by the Queensland Government in the first half of 2023, is immediately south of a prospective copper trend identified in field reconnaissance that included high grade rock chip samples of up to 11.65% copper and 66.39g/t silver.

The new ground remains sparsely explored and could extend the 650m wide trend to over 5km long north to south.

Metalicity (ASX:MCT) has already been granted approval for a proposed exploration work program for the new tenement (EPM 28653), which boasts two intrusive granitic units of imilar age to those in the adjoining EPM 29052.

“This tenement application will build on the exciting opportunities that are presenting from our Mt Surprise Project,” MCT managing director Justin Barton said.

“To potentially extend the increasing high grade copper trend to over 5km in length and significant width is very exciting and the company eagerly awaits the assay results of the recent soil samples to better understand the possible extensions of mineralisation and potential new anomalies.

“The three tenement areas the company has now secured in North Queensland remain sparsely explored but are considered highly prospective for copper, lithium, silver, gold and other base metals.

“With assay results expected early in the new year for the Mt Surprise project, combined with the anticipated granting of the Georgetown lithium tenements and the acquisition of this new tenure, we are extremely well positioned and excited to push ahead with these projects in 2023.”

Vein hosted copper mineralisation at EPM 29052 was identified in three historical workings back in October, with another vein and historical working to the west taking its potential copper endowment to a width of 650m.

A copper occurrence has already been identified on the new tenement among mineral occurrences on the GSQ Open Data Portal System.

Metalicity is also waiting on assay results for over 300 ultrafine soil samples at the Mt Surprise project, taken during its last field programme.

They will assist in further defining the Mt Surprise copper project and potentially expand on it.
