Unicorns Podcast: How PT Blink is reinventing construction through smart technology

The Unicorns Podcast connects you to some of the best and brightest founders, CEOs, executives, business owners, innovators, entrepreneurs and inspiring leaders who make things happen and inspire others.

Host Justin Kelly – former broadcast journalist and PR veteran – chats with leaders from across Australia and internationally about business strategy, what it takes to build a successful company, how to overcome challenges and advice for those on a similar journey.

In this episode of The Unicorns Podcast, Justin interviews Murray Ellen (founder) and Wayne Larsen (CEO) from property technology platform PT Blink.

PT Blink is an Australian company that’s reinventing the way buildings are designed, manufactured, and delivered. Instead of traditional construction methods, PT Blink applies a “design-to-assembly” approach that uses digital twin technology to unlock material project economics and scale.

It allows developers to create a fully resolved digital model of a building before any physical work begins. Every component is then fabricated offsite and assembled onsite like a kit of parts – which significantly reduces build time, eliminates costly delays, and offers far greater cost and quality control.

It’s a system that gives asset owners and developers real-time transparency and control over every stage of a project, from design through to delivery. And it’s already being used for large-scale projects in Australia. There’s even a possibility of PT Blink playing a material role in the potential recovery of the Wyalla steelworks.

In this episode, Murray and Wayne talk about how it all started, how the technology actually works, and how PT Blink is now scaling up for major impact — including how this kind of innovation could play a big role in solving Australia’s housing affordability crisis.
