Special Report: Hearing health company Audeara has signed a project agreement with Ear Science Institute Australia (ESIA) to advance bone-conduction hearing technologies aimed at improving access for high-need communities across Australia.
Under the agreement, ESIA will contribute $100,000 and its clinical expertise, while Audeara (ASX: AUA) will provide technical support, product supply and project coordination.
ESIA is a world-renowned medical research institute bringing together surgeons, clinicians, and researchers to enhance the lives of people with ear and hearing disorders.
The ESIA and Audeara project is expected to start this month and will include product evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and pilot implementation aimed at improving support access for children who require assistance hearing in classroom settings.
Positive impact of bone conduction
Bone-conduction hearing solutions transmit sound through vibrations that travel through the bones in a user’s skull, bypassing the eardrum.
This lets users clearly hear audio while staying aware of surrounding sounds, providing an alternative to traditional headphones.
The method has potential to deliver positive impact in educational and social participation, while also representing a meaningful commercial opportunity in underserved markets.
Audeara emphasised that it, along with the ESIA, is committed to ensuring the project delivers tangible impact in community settings while informing future development opportunities.

Project a perfect harmony for Audeara
Audeara CEO Dr James Fielding said the collaboration with ESIA was closely aligned with its purpose to deliver world-class hearing solutions that help people engage more fully in their communities.
“Supporting children to hear well in and outside the classroom has lifelong benefits, and we’re proud to play a role in exploring how this technology can make a difference,” he said.
ESIA CEO Sandra Bellekom said the organisation had worked extensively with community leaders and families to understand their needs and the barriers that they face to access effective hearing solutions.
“These are fundamental to educational success and community connection,” she said.
“We’re pleased to partner with Audeara to explore innovative approaches that can improve outcomes for children and families who need additional support.”
