Australian retailers are employing “covert operatives” for their stores — though it’s unclear who they’re spying on.

MCS Services (ASX:MSG) says they are supplying these covert operatives — their term — to a major national retailer in Western Australia.

MCS boss Paul Simmons said the employees supplied to the retailer were called “Team Covert”.

The Perth-based company provides security services to a range of industries in Western Australia with mall cops being just one.

They also guard the elites’ yachts as part of marina security and their children as well, as part of an “educational security” service that looks after schools and universities.

MCS closed Thursday flat at 1.7c.
