With 500,000 pre-orders, Claw Stars is tracking for strong growth ahead of its June 30 launch.

Following on from the success of its smash hit Masketeers: Idle has Fallen title, listed games developer iCandy Interactive (ASX:ICI) has flagged another strong update for its new Claw Stars game.

The company announced this morning that it has already exceeded 500,000 pre-orders for Claw Stars, across the Apple App store and Google Play.

The game is currently being prepared for a global launch on June 30.

Addressing the market

Based on the early trial results, iCandy said Claw Stars is recording better retention rates with consumers than Masketeers, which launched last year and generated more than $1m in revenue in just its first two months.

The Claw Stars game is iCandy’s first title that is based around multiplayer functionality, and draws in the IP it has leveraged from other game titles in its product suite.

Speaking with Stockhead earlier this year, iCandy chairman Lau Kin Wai highlighted that ICI leverages data analytics from existing titles to further refine its market fit.

“There’s a number of insights from Masketeers and we’ve actually funnelled quite a bit of that behaviour analytics into (new game) Claw Star,” Kin said.

The Claw Stars game is free to download, and generates revenue from in-game purchases and mobile advertising.

“Claw Stars is the first multiplayer game developed in-house by iCandy, and we are happy to see that the game is very well received at this pre-order phase,” Kin said.

One of a small cohort of listed game developers on the ASX, iCandy was ranked number 25 in the Australian Financial Review’s list of the 100 fastest-growing companies in Australia for 2020.
