WTF with ATC: Iggy Tan gives the 101 on grid storage batteries
What are grid storage batteries? How much of Australia’s renewable power is discharged in the ground? And what does this mean for future decarbonisation?
Altech Batteries (ASX:ATC) is developing a 100 MWh solid state sodium chloride battery production facility while also cooking up in the kitchen new materials for lithium-ion batteries using silicon in graphite anodes to produce higher energy density batteries.
Earlier this week, Altech Batteries kicked off permitting and licensing for its cobalt-free, graphite-free and copper-free CERENERGY battery project in Germany. This will help fast track the construction and operation process.
Stockhead’s Sarah Hughan sits down with Altech Batteries managing director Iggy Tan to get the facts on how Australia can position itself for an emission free future using solid state sodium chloride batteries for grid storage.
