RockTalk is a Stockhead video series featuring a roundtable of resources experts discussing a new macro topic each week.
In this episode, host Peter Strachan discusses the increased interest for exploration of rare earths elements with many new discoveries made in WA. Peter’s watchlist of REE explorers has expanded from about eight companies to near 41 in the last 18 months, raising concerns of a risk of oversupply before demand kicks in.
Populating the expert panel for this discussion are Lloyd Kaiser, GM Sales and Marketing at Arafura Resources (ASX:ARU) and Robert Stuart, managing director at Desert Minerals (ASX:DM1).
Arafura is developing the Nolans NdPr Project in the Northern Territory which the company expects could supply up to 10 per cent of the world’s demand for NdPr when in full production. Desert Metals is exploring for intrusive nickel and copper on the NW margin of the Yilgarn Craton in Western Australia.
The group discuss a range of topics including recent developments in the rare earths market, DM1’s Pivot to rare earths exploration, Arafura’s Nolan’s project development process and more.
