Strategic Energy Resources has rounded out its first field season at the Canobie IOCG JV with FMG Resources in Northwest Queensland in search of an Ernest Henry 2.0.

Stockhead’s Sarah Hughan sits down with Strategic Energy Resources (ASX:SER) managing director David DeTata to get the short end of the long story on the company’s latest announcement.

As of last week, SER and FMG dusted their hands off at Canobie following 3,000m of drilling in search of a major IOCG discovery. But this is only just the start as the pair are signed on for an $8 million, six-year program.

Canobie sits within the same geological domain as Evolution Mining’s (ASX:EVN) Ernest Henry operation to the south. Ernest Henry is one of the largest copper reserves in the world and holds the potential to contain additional deposits.

Tune in to hear SER’s David DeTata on what it will take to find an Ernest Henry lookalike, next steps at Canobie and other opportunities in the company portfolio.
