Challenger Gold is putting together the numbers in a robust scoping study for its Hualian gold play in Argentina.

Stockhead’s Ashtyn Hiron sits down with Challenger Gold (ASX:CEL) managing director Kris Knaur to get the short end of the long story on the company’s Hualian gold project.

A recent scoping study estimates the precious metals play will return $1.1bn in earnings over a seven-year period, set the company back $211.1m in capex and reach payback in just 1.25 years’ time.

Hualian’s pre-tax net present value and internal rate of return are forecast at $629 million and 75%, respectively, while a hefty 81% of the project’s gold resource is already housed in the higher-confidence indicated category.

With strong cashflows and rapid payback anticipated, Challenger is eager to secure the next round of test work results as it readies for further exploration and development at Hualian.

Tune in to hear Kris Knaur on the recent study and what’s in store for the Argentine treasure trove.
