Aircore drilling has confirmed that the gold footprint at Miramar’s Glandore project in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields region is very large indeed.

Resplits of holes from the Phase 1 program have returned multiple holes ending in +0.25 grams per tonne (g/t) gold such as GDAC157, which intersected 9m grading 0.78g/t gold including 2m at 2.94g/t gold.

Adding further interest, Miramar Resources (ASX:M2R) is all over a line of holes stretching from GDAC007 to GDAC174 which have defined an uninterrupted near 2km long northeast trending zone of anomalous gold and pathfinder elements – and it runs right through the middle of the interpreted granodiorite pluton – this is indicative of the exciting potential for Majestic-style mineralisation.

The third-party Majestic deposit has a resource of 480,000oz of gold, a hint at the potential of this northeast trending zone.

Kelly: substantial

Executive chairman Allan Kelly says there seems to be a very substantial gold system under the lake at Glandore which had not previously been recognised.

“Historical drilling focussed on the eastern margin of the granodiorite intrusion, where the high-grade diamond drill hole results are seen, but did not test the intrusion itself,” he added.

“Gold mineralisation at the nearby Majestic and Trojan deposits is hosted in NE-striking structures within small granitic intrusions similar to the geological setting at Glandore.

“We believe the results to date indicate the presence of at least one of these NE-trending mineralised structures within the granodiorite pluton extending over a significant strike length.”

Drilling a little deeper

Miramar is already preparing to complete a diamond drill program at the Glandore East prospect where historical drilling had intersected numerous high-grade veins on the eastern edge of the granodiorite pluton with results up to 6m at 29.8g/t.

This is scheduled for the June quarter following completion of reverse circulation and aircore drilling at the Gidji JV project.
